Job Summary

The City of Springfield, MO is seeking a highly skilled Professional Engineer to join our Environmental Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing infrastructure planning and capital improvement projects, working with and supervising a team of GIS and data analysis professionals, and designing wastewater infrastructure improvements. If you have a technical background in water resources, environmental, sanitary sewer, stormwater, or wastewater engineering, and experience in project management, hydraulic modeling, and/or GIS and data analysis, we encourage you to apply.

About the Department of Environmental Services
Environmental Services is responsible for protecting the quality of the water resources in and around Springfield. We manage over 1,200 miles of sanitary sewer infrastructure, two award-winning wastewater treatment plants, water quality compliance with the City's municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4), and the regional municipal landfill. In 2021, Springfield was highlighted as 1 of 13 municipalities in an EPA report to Congress with an implemented Integrated Plan for the Environment. Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;
  • Four years of experience in engineering work;
  • Engineering experience must be commensurate with assigned specialty area required for current vacancy;
AND
  • Must possess a Professional Engineer's license;
  • Must possess MO license as issued by the Missouri State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers within six months of employment.
