About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Veterinarian to join our Community Medicine team in Los Angeles. As a Relief Veterinarian, you will provide high-quality, compassionate care to animals in need, working alongside our experienced team of veterinarians, technicians, and assistants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide preventive and basic care to patients, including physical examinations, diagnostics, treatment recommendations, and discharge information.
  • Perform pre-surgery physical examinations on all surgical candidates.
  • Perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgical procedures at our stationary clinic or on our state-of-the-art mobile spay/neuter clinics.
  • Diagnose and treat post-surgical medical complications.
  • Provide a safe and compassionate environment for animals in our care, our staff, and for our clients by using low-stress handling techniques.
  • Triage and refer cases that do not fall within CM's parameters of care as appropriate.
  • Perform humane euthanasia in accordance with ASPCA policy and CM protocols.
Client Service
  • Communicate with clients in a non-judgmental, effective, and professional manner, discussing physical examination and test results to allow pet owners to make informed decisions about their pet's care.
  • Counsel owners about end-of-life and other sensitive medical concerns.
  • Provide discharge instructions for patients and oversee the dispensing of medications.
Requirements
  • Current California State Veterinary License.
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, etc.) strongly preferred.
