Position Highlights:
Shift Schedule: PRN, may include holidays
Department: Patient Access in Emergency Department

Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience in patient access (scheduling, registration, and financial clearance), insurance verification, billing, or as a certified medical assistant is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients upon arrival for their appointments, ensuring a smooth patient flow for efficient and courteous service.
- Verify that all patient demographic and insurance information is complete and accurate.
- Complete the registration process for walk-in patients, updating any changes in demographic or insurance information.
- Confirm insurance benefits, calculate and collect patients' out-of-pocket financial responsibilities, and request past due balances.
- Adhere to the Financial Clearance policy for non-urgent services when necessary.
- Identify patients needing financial assistance and refer them to the Financial Counselor.
- Facilitate visit closure, including checking out patients, scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing necessary documentation.
- Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements, as well as current accepted insurance plans.
- Communicate any customer service issues and process improvement opportunities to management.
- Meet productivity standards to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Achieve or exceed performance expectations, maintaining a 98% accuracy rate.
- Foster positive public relations with patients, families, and clinical staff, demonstrating a collaborative spirit for efficient information flow.
