The Speech Language Pathologist operates autonomously to conduct a variety of speech and language interventions. Reporting to the Director of Rehabilitation Services for administrative guidance, this role involves delivering tailored therapy by evaluating patient requirements, formulating care plans, providing educational resources, and assessing the effectiveness of the treatment provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts comprehensive and precise evaluations of patients using advanced speech and language techniques and effective interviewing methods.
- Designs and organizes treatment plans for individuals referred to speech and language services.
- Implements suitable therapeutic interventions based on identified patient needs.
- Assesses the effectiveness and relevance of care delivered, modifying treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborates with medical professionals regarding any alterations in patient status affecting the treatment regimen.
- Engages patients and their families/caregivers in the therapeutic process, providing education on effective care techniques.
- Oversees, assesses, and coordinates patient care activities related to speech and language pathology services, offering insights to the department Director on patient care issues.
Essential Knowledge:
Completion of a clinical fellowship year along with certification of clinical competency and licensure in the State of Indiana is required. A master's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution in Speech and Language Pathology is mandatory.
Essential Experience:
Preferred experience of 1-2 years in a relevant professional setting.
