Penske Refrigeration Technician Job Description

At Penske Truck Leasing, we're committed to delivering exceptional transportation and logistics services. As a Penske Refrigeration Technician, you'll play a critical role in maintaining our fleet of refrigeration units, ensuring they're in top condition to meet the demands of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair refrigeration units, including Carrier and Thermo King equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as testing lines, components, and connections
  • Read and interpret complex schematics associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
  • Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair orders
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment
  • Conduct road tests to diagnose malfunctions or ensure proper operation
  • Use hand tools and power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches and welding equipment
  • Provide support for preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as needed
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications
Requirements:
  • 6 years of practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Vocational/Technical or certification preferred
  • Specialized training and experience in refrigeration component overhaul required
  • ASE Certification preferred
  • 608/609 certifications preferred
  • Proficiency in using necessary tools of trade required
  • Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment required
Working Conditions:
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg
  • Work in all weather conditions
  • Use applicable ladders and elevated working platforms safely
  • See and hear to safely navigate the work environment
