The Emergency Medicine Physician is accountable for delivering high-quality patient care by assessing medical histories and synthesizing comprehensive data relevant to the patient's health status. This role involves making immediate clinical decisions and taking necessary actions to avert life-threatening situations both in prehospital environments and within the emergency department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide prompt recognition, evaluation, care, stabilization, and management of a diverse patient population, including both adults and children, experiencing acute medical conditions and injuries.
Emergency Department Highlights:
- A collaborative team of six emergency department physicians.
- Robust support from full-time hospitalists and specialists across various fields including surgery, orthopedics, and pediatrics.
- 24/7 access to essential service lines such as mental health and cardiology.
- Annual patient visits totaling approximately 9,000.
- 11-bed emergency department.
- Experienced staff including CRNAs and nurses.
- Designated as a Level IV Trauma Center, Stroke Ready.
- Facilitated transfers to a network of affiliated tertiary care hospitals.
Position Highlights:
- Utilization of Epic with Dragon dictation for efficient documentation.
- Flexible scheduling with 12-hour shifts.
- Access to an Express Care Clinic staffed by physicians and advanced practice providers.
- Eligibility for relocation and signing bonuses.
- Hospital-employed model offering stability and support.
Job Requirements:
- MD, DO, or equivalent international medical training is mandatory.
- Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine experience.
- Possession of an active, unrestricted medical license in Minnesota or the ability to obtain one.
- Capability to secure and maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Fulfillment of criteria for credentialing and hospital privileges as necessary.
- ACLS/BLS certification required within 180 days of hire.
- ATLS or CALS certification preferred.
- PALS certification is required.
Physical Demands:
Medium Work: Ability to lift weights up to 32 lbs occasionally and up to 25 lbs frequently, in accordance with safe patient handling policies.
