About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CCTV Traveling Project Technician to join our team at Wachter. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining cabling systems and equipment in IP Video, IP Physical Access Control/LAN/WAN infrastructure, and wireless LAN.

Responsibilities
  • Learning on-the-job training for CCTV, including installing, troubleshooting, and repairing cabling systems and equipment.
  • Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various cabling infrastructure.
  • Providing basic setup, installation, and testing services for phone systems, wireless systems, and network devices.
  • Running low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work.
  • Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.
  • Performing site surveys, developing a scope of work and materials list, and installing cable support structures.
  • Conducting tests to ensure all newly installed cable systems and component devices are operational.
  • Troubleshooting issues with cable networks to ensure proper functioning and compliance with local, county, state, or federal codes.
  • Adhering to all required project safety requirements as set forth by Wachter, our customers, or OSHA.
Requirements
  • Data cable technician with CAT5e, fiber optic, and network experience.
  • Available for extensive travel, 6 to 8 weeks at a time, as a road warrior.
  • Flexible and willing to work on-call, early morning, day, night, and weekend shifts depending on the requirements of the job.
  • Experience in low voltage cabling, smart hands network replacement, and telephony.
  • Knowledgeable of all industry standards (NEC, TIA/EIA, BICSI).
  • Industry-specific certifications (BICSI, Systimax, Panduit, Beldon, Corning) are a plus.
  • Ability to consistently complete projects within budget, on time, and in a safe manner.
  • Excellent customer relationship and communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Knowledgeable in identifying independent colors and learning color codes.
  • Execute advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces.
  • Ability to operate a BOOM or scissor lift and work at heights.
  • Climbing experience is a plus.
  • Has basic telecommunication tools, PPE, and reliable transportation.
  • Must have knowledge of cabling infrastructure.
  • Experience in conduit installation is a plus.
