About the Role

As a member of the Army National Guard, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in equipment maintenance and repair. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with their hands and are interested in mechanics.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility as an Equipment Maintenance Specialist will be to maintain and repair a variety of equipment, including chemical decontamination systems and quartermaster machinery. You will work on laundry and bath equipment, pumps, engines, burners, filter units, and water purification units.

Key Skills

  • Servicing internal combustion engine ignition/fuel/cooling/electrical systems
  • Performing damage assessment and repair
  • Maintenance of special purpose equipment, decontamination and protective filter systems, smoke generator systems, and chemical electrical systems

Training and Development

Upon enlistment, you will undergo 10 weeks of Basic Training, followed by 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). During AIT, you will learn marine engine maintenance and repair, internal combustion engine theory, and the use and care of hand and power tools.

To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
  • Be at least 17 years old and no older than 35
  • Pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
