Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic Activity Leader to join our team at Elderwood. As an Activity Leader, you will be responsible for planning and conducting enjoyable recreation programs that keep our residents engaged, energized, and mentally stimulated.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Activities in planning and executing the activity program.
  • Approach residents on assigned units to plan individual recreational and social activities and report back to the Director of Activities.
  • Prepare resident information for use in care planning and documentation, and write progress notes as assigned.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining good contact with community resources to enhance the activities program.
  • Maintain departmental inventory of equipment and supplies, and prepare attendance records and other reports as required.
Requirements
  • Minimum 18 years of age required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid New York Driver's License and clean driving record required.
  • Ability to develop good relationships with staff, volunteers, families, and visitors required.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others, create a warm and accepting climate for residents, and adapt and modify activities to meet their needs required.
  • Understanding of the rights and needs of residents required.
  • Physical stamina for constant activity required.
Work Environment

This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. To ensure a safe work environment, the employee must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
