Join the ASPCA's Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) team as a Veterinarian - Toxicology Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in managing cases involving animals exposed to potentially dangerous substances.

About the Role:

The APCC is the leading animal poison control call center in the nation, handling over 400,000 calls annually. Our team of veterinarians and support staff work together to provide assistance to hundreds of thousands of pets each year. As a Veterinarian - Toxicology Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing cases initiated by telephone from practicing veterinarians, animal owners, and others
  • Providing detailed and accurate diagnostic and treatment recommendations
  • Developing risk and rule out assessments based on exposure history and clinical findings
  • Consulting with on-site and off-site experts in complicated cases
  • Maintaining quality in the case record and medical proficiency
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary college
  • Current veterinary license from any U.S. state
  • Eligibility for and ability to obtain an active Illinois state veterinary license within one year of hire
  • 1 year of clinical experience, with emergency facility work experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of veterinary clinical medicine and a strong interest in toxicology

The ASPCA offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands, or budgeted amount for the role
  • Zone 1 (For example, Champaign, IL; Union, MO;): $98,500 - $105,500
  • Zone 2 (For example, Chicago, IL): $108,500 - $115,500
