Fiber Splicing Technician Job Description

At Primoris Services Corporation, we are seeking a highly skilled Fiber Splicing Technician to join our team. As a Fiber Splicing Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic cables and networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fusion Splicing: Perform single and ribbon splicing using various fusion splicers, including M-90, X-77, I-LID, and OPTI-SPLICE LID FUSION SLICERS.
  • Cable & Enclosure Prep: Bond and ground cables as necessary, ensuring a safe and reliable connection.
  • Aerial & Underground Splicing: Install and splice fiber optic cables in aerial and underground environments.
  • FO Testing: Perform OTDR, PM, and LS testing to ensure the integrity of fiber optic cables and networks.
  • Cable Installation: Install both copper and fiber optic cables, including Cat5e, Cat6, single-mode, and multi-mode cables.
  • Component and System Testing: Perform testing on various components and systems to ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • Crew Leadership: Lead crews as assigned, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license to travel to client sites.
  • Finger & Wrist Dexterity: Demonstrate finger and wrist dexterity, as well as hand-eye coordination, to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Ability to Work at Heights: Work safely at heights, including man lifts, scissor lifts, and rooftops, utilizing proper fall protection.
  • Power Tool Operation: Operate power tools, including small hand tools and larger equipment.
  • Physical Demands: Walk, stand, bend, lift up to 75 lbs., and drive a vehicle.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent Customer Service: Demonstrate excellent customer service skills to provide best-in-class service to clients.
Working Conditions:
  • Travel Requirements: Travel periodically to client sites, based on client needs, business needs, and project scope.
  • Exposure to Hazards: Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions, chemicals, and solvents, as well as mechanical, electrical, and other hazards.
