Key Responsibilities- Execute the installation, termination, splicing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables.
- Manage the pulling of cables, mounting of network devices, and installation of telephony hardware.
- Conduct technical diagnostics, installation, and support for security systems including Burglar Alarms, Fire Alarms, CCTV/Video, and Access Control systems.
- Perform optical tests and characterizations for fiber optic device modules, ensuring quality through visual inspections and various loss testing methods.
- Adhere to industry standards and codes (including TIA 568 & TIA 942) during installations.
- Assist in inventory management and control.
- Handle fiber routing, ribbon breakouts, and custom splicing projects with precision.
- Maintain comprehensive records for all products under testing for ISO documentation compliance.
- Ensure adherence to customer-specific procedures for documentation and notifications.
- Uphold a high level of professionalism while interacting with clients, vendors, and colleagues.
- Be open to travel, including overnight stays, as required.
- Provide timely and thorough documentation of all work performed.
- Operate vehicles safely while adhering to local laws and safety protocols.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Certification as a Fiber Optic Technician with knowledge of both ground and aerial installations.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time efficiently.
- Familiarity with at least one of the four major technician disciplines: Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, or Outside Plant.
- Knowledge of fiber optic cable locating, right-of-way, and As-Builts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 75 lbs and working in various weather conditions.
- Must pass a drug screening and meet security requirements.
The salary range for this position is $25 - $32 per hour, with opportunities for overtime based on skill and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays.
