Job Overview

The Logistics Receiving Specialist is responsible for executing a range of standard shipping and receiving operations. This role involves verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against relevant documentation such as purchase orders and invoices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Receive and unload incoming shipments, ensuring that the details on the packing slip match the purchase order for accuracy; manage return shipments as necessary.
  2. Sort, count, package, label, insure, unpack, and log received inventory efficiently.
  3. Inspect all shipments for any damages or defects; document discrepancies and communicate findings to the supervisor or purchasing team.
  4. Deliver received items to the appropriate departments and secure authorized signatures for accepted goods.
  5. Maintain departmental databases, generate routine reports, and organize receiving records as required.
  6. Operate equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts for loading and unloading tasks; may also handle shrink wrap machinery and assist with routine equipment maintenance.
  7. Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, focusing on continuous quality improvement and safety standards.
  8. Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies, while promoting a culture of workplace safety and environmental responsibility.
  9. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient in preparing standard administrative paperwork.
  • Ability to comprehend, follow, and enforce safety protocols.
  • Capable of identifying issues and reporting relevant information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Skilled in sorting, checking, counting, and verifying numerical data.
  • Experience in receiving, tracking, and distributing materials and supplies.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations.
  • Experience in receiving, stocking, and delivering goods.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a shipping and receiving environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.

Training Requirements:

  • Forklift certification
  • Hazardous communication training
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) training
