Job Summary:

At GeorgiaGov, we seek a dedicated and compassionate leader to oversee our youth rehabilitation programs. As a Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, therapeutic, and educational environment in our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and guide subordinate staff in maintaining order and discipline among youth.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures governing the Department of Juvenile Justice.
  • Provide direct support, guidance, and structure for detained youth, emphasizing safety, personal conduct, care, and rehabilitation.
  • Supervise contraband searches and inspections, maintain physical control of logs, keys, tools, weapons, and related equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of facility policies, rules, procedures, and regulations, and enforce compliance.
  • Support training, selection, and orientation of subordinate staff.
  • Review youth information to identify issues requiring special attention.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • One year of experience as a Juvenile Correctional Officer Sergeant (PSP222) or equivalent.
  • State of Georgia P.O.S.T. Certification within the first six months of employment.
  • Valid Driver License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current and valid certification as a Juvenile Correctional Officer by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council.
  • One or more years of experience in a Juvenile Justice environment.
  • Completion of one or more years of college.
