We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor to join our faculty in the School of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at Southern Illinois University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, research, and service in the area of Electrical Power and Energy Engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Electrical Engineering, including required and technical elective courses.
- Engage in an active research program, publishing in peer-reviewed journals and acquiring competitive external funding.
- Supervise doctoral and master's students, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure their academic success.
- Contribute to the development of new courses and programs, staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements.
- Participate in school, university, and professional service, including committee work, conference organization, and community outreach.
- Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field at the time of appointment.
- Established record of outstanding-quality research publications in the power systems and related areas.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, with a focus on student-centered learning and assessment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Postdoctoral research experience in Electrical Power and Energy Engineering.
- Experience with teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong track record of securing external funding for research projects.
