Alta Science and Engineering is seeking a Senior Restoration Specialist, either an Engineer or Geomorphologist, to manage and support stream, meadow, and wetland restoration initiatives across the Inland Northwest and beyond. This position requires collaboration with a diverse team to enhance restoration efforts. The role encompasses project management, business development, team leadership, and both field and office responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be proactive and thrive in a dynamic and enjoyable team environment that includes scientists, engineers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and develop assessments, designs, and construction supervision for projects such as stream, meadow, and wetland restoration, as well as wetland mitigation (may also involve remedial design at hazardous waste sites, flood control, culvert replacements, etc.)
  • Formulate and execute plans, procedures, and protocols to achieve project objectives, and conduct or supervise fieldwork as required
  • Ensure that natural systems projects are completed on schedule and within budget while adhering to Alta's quality standards
  • Organize, schedule, and prepare project deliverables (design documents, bid packages, reports, memoranda, etc.)
  • Act as a primary liaison with clients and stakeholders, providing timely updates to management regarding project status, client relations, or other matters
  • Mentor and develop team members
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism in interactions with clients and staff
  • Promote health and safety practices consistently
  • Lead marketing and business development efforts

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering (preferably with a focus on water resources) or a Bachelor's degree in fluvial geomorphology
  • Comprehensive understanding of hydrology, geomorphology, hydraulics, and river and wetland dynamics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficient technical writing abilities
  • Excellent computer skills, with substantial knowledge of MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Over 10 years of experience in restoration work
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Capability to perform fieldwork, sometimes in challenging weather conditions and on uneven terrain
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
  • Understanding of market and technical proposals
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • A strong passion for natural systems

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with relevant federal regulations such as CWA, ESA, and NEPA
  • Proficient in design software, particularly AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • 40-Hour or 24-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training (per 29 CFR with current 8-hour refresher training)
  • Master's Degree
