Position Summary

The primary objective of this role is to deliver a comprehensive range of human resource services that support our operational goals across multiple locations. This position is responsible for overseeing the recruitment process from initial interviews to onboarding new hires.


Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate resumes and applications utilizing our HRIS/Applicant Pro system.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to assess departmental needs, schedule interviews, and participate in the interview process as needed.
  • Engage in recruitment activities, including job fairs and outreach to community employment organizations.
  • Work alongside senior HR leadership to assist managers in documenting and addressing attendance and performance issues.
  • Facilitate termination processes and prepare necessary documentation for approvals.
  • Contribute to HR training initiatives, including new employee orientation.
  • Organize on-site meetings for employees to engage in HR-related programs (benefit enrollment, professional development, etc.).
  • Act as a liaison for employee relations concerns.
  • Address HR inquiries and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Plan and execute employee engagement initiatives and events.
  • Participate in safety committees to ensure compliance and representation across the organization.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and perform audits to ensure documentation is complete.
  • Provide suggestions for continuous improvement in HR practices.

  • Work with various software applications, including Microsoft Office and specialized animal shelter software.
  • Use office equipment such as printers, scanners, and telephones.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly sit at a computer workstation.
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  • May require climbing, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Frequently stand and walk, with potential for extended periods on feet.
  • Exposure to animals and allergens in the workplace.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision.
  • Regular exposure to noise and varying weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to cleaning supplies and chemicals.

Schedule Requirements

This position may require weekend and holiday work, typically structured as five eight-hour shifts per week.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources, preferably as a Generalist.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Prior recruitment experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with HR software is a plus.
  • PHR/SPHR certification is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
  • Ability to work independently and respond to management direction.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
