Job Summary

Sul Ross State University is seeking a highly skilled Programmer Analyst III to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing complex analysis of information and assessment system requirements, developing or modifying information and assessment system designs, testing and debugging existing programs, and producing programs that implement those designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Codes, documents, tests, and debugs programs.
  • Builds robust assessment tools following departmental and program requirements.
  • Deploys assessments and field experience binders in Student Learning and Licensure.
  • Liaison between IT staff and Watermark.
  • Creates, maintains and troubleshoots Blackboard assignments that point to Student Learning and Licensure assignments.
  • Leads team projects and assists with training others.
  • Handles user-specific help requests from students, faculty, administrators, and external users.
  • Assists the certification officers and other College staff and administrators with data needs and support.
  • Supports national (US Department of Education), State (TEA) and other entities' (e.g. US News and World Report) data and reporting needs.
  • Creates tools (e.g. macros) for others to use as part of their jobs.
Requirements
  • Requires a demonstrated ability to establish congenial work relationships and to communicate verbally, written, and electronic effectively within department or workgroup, and throughout university with professional staff.
  • May interpret and implement complex policies affecting the department level.
  • Work requires considerable judgment, a high level of initiative, considerate of confidential information, and sound reasoning to solve department and division problems.
  • Must be Microsoft Certified in Excel and other Office tools or demonstrate mastery level competence in data handling.
  • Must demonstrate use of applied statistical methods and independent analysis of data for reporting including routine, exception, errors, and anomalies.
