We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Development Scientist to join our team at Corning. As a key member of our Optical Fiber Manufacturing group, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving manufacturing platforms for revolutionary manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop new manufacturing processes and equipment to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Drive root-cause analysis and problem-solving to identify and address manufacturing limitations.
- Translate technical understanding into engineering requirements and process designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing yields, process rate, machine utilization, product quality, and environmental compliance.
- Manage product/process development and utilize innovation processes to ensure on-time delivery.
- Communicate and document results, and provide cost of manufacturability analyses.
Requirements:
- Minimum BS or MS in Chemical, Material, Ceramics, or Mechanical Engineering with years of engineering experience.
- Process engineering background with emphasis on chemical transport and reaction processes.
- Working knowledge of physical phenomena and ability to apply scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems.
- Strong independent work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work interactively on cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data processing software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to translate engineering solutions to requirements and process designs.
- Effective use of measured and/or modeled data to drive decisions and actions.
