As a Senior Scientist in our FAST Labs, you will be part of a team that develops and implements advanced technology capabilities in areas such as advanced electronics, autonomy, cyber, electronic warfare, and sensors and processing.
The Sensor Technologies Product Line has established itself as a market leader in the development of Multimodal Sensing technologies. Our Multi-spectral Equipment Technology Area is seeking a senior level scientist to create the future vision of our integrated Multi-modal Sensing Strategy.
This role requires a collaborative and independent individual who can design, develop, execute, and implement research projects. You will apply scientific principles and concepts to the development of prototype capabilities, contribute to external publications and/or invention disclosures, and contribute to proposals and technical reports.
This position reports directly to an MSE Technical Group Lead and can be based out of our Merrimack, NH or Austin, TX. You will work closely with customers and staff across BAE Systems ES facilities, both virtually and in-person.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in one or more technical fields, including RF sensors, EO/IR sensors, digital signal processing, sensor modeling and simulation, and integration and test experience with hardware/software systems. You will lead the design, development, and execution of innovative scientific solutions to complex technical problems.

- Supports the development of strategic roadmaps, plans, and executes research of complex scope regularly involving multiple technical fields.
- Experience as a principal investigator for medium (3-5 person) research efforts, coordinating technical program performance with leadership and functional engineering managers.
- Supports external discussions with customers and subcontracting partners in order to support technical execution, risk and opportunity management.
- Mentors less experienced staff on technical skillsets.
A competitive salary is offered for this role, with a range of $126,610 - $215,270. This is based on market pay structures, and individual salaries are determined by various factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications.
