We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Columbus Technology Center in Dublin, OH. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for setting up and running medium- to large-scale mechanical tests, collaborating with DNV leadership and other technology centers to grow our testing portfolio, and performing tasks on projects related to materials selection and corrosion testing.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and integrate pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and data acquisition systems and equipment for medium- to large-scale mechanical tests.
- Inspect, test, repair, and troubleshoot equipment, and install new systems.
- Collaborate with DNV leadership and other technology centers to grow our testing portfolio.
- Perform tasks on projects related to materials selection and corrosion testing, including experimental setup, data collection, and reporting.
- Work in one or more areas of technical expertise, along with DNV subject matter experts at other technology centers.
- Interact with customers, develop testing plans and proposals, and develop new customers.
- Provide project updates to customers and write reports for completed projects.
- Present research through technical journals and/or conference symposia.
- Engineering degree (M.Sc or Ph.D.) in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Corrosion, Mechanical Engineering, or Equivalent.
- Experience building and running medium- to large-scale pneumatic or hydraulic equipment.
- Experience with proposal generation.
- Well-organized and proactive, able to work in a fast-paced and competitive environment with diverse people.
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Completion of pre-employment background and drug screening, along with random drug screening as per Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
- Ability to regularly lift 25lbs and wear a respirator.
- Experience in project management, with knowledge of technical interfaces and project finance management.
- Experience with running fatigue crack growth and fracture toughness tests.
- 5+ years of laboratory testing experience is strongly desired.
