Job Description

The Director of Merchandise Planning is a key role at Guitar Center, responsible for driving sales, margin, and turn across all channels and brands. This leader will train and inspire a team to flow inventory with precision to meet demand and promotional events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement long- and short-term omni-channel category financial plans, utilizing sales trends, market research, CRM data, and merchant vision to drive growth and mitigate downtrends.
  • Monitor and manage inventory quality and age, making recommendations for pricing actions, returns, and digital tactics to liquidate slow-aging inventory.
  • Collaborate with Category Directors to own omni-channel sales, receipts, and gross margin.
  • Conduct assortment rationalization to meet customer-focused service level agreements.
  • Build relationships with key vendor partners to develop collaborative customer growth strategies and effective supply plans.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Merchandising/Supply Chain, or 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 6 years of relevant work experience.
  • 5 years of experience leading teams.
