Position: IT Support and Installation Specialist
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated IT Support and Installation Specialist to fill a full-time role. In this position, you will deliver exceptional first and second-level support along with outstanding customer service for various technical infrastructures. This includes Urbancom Microwave point-to-point systems, Wi-Fi networks, Windows and Linux operating systems, mobile devices, fiber internet, VoIP phones, printers, networking equipment, and end-user applications. Our clientele consists of local governments, businesses, and residential customers.
Occasionally, you may need to ascend communication towers or ladders to perform installations on rooftops. Your responsibilities will include the installation of microwave radios and dishes, as well as running Cat5, coaxial, and fiber optic cables. While some tasks may resemble those of cellular or satellite installers, the majority of your work will focus on various IT-related activities, such as installing network cables, switches, routers, IP video cameras, and VoIP phones for a diverse range of clients.
In this dynamic work environment, you will have exposure to cutting-edge technologies and opportunities to expand your skill set. We seek a highly organized self-starter with a keen eye for detail and a passion for technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide user support for computer systems and standard corporate software.
- Deliver comprehensive local and remote technical assistance to clients.
- Configure and install a wide array of new and refurbished computer equipment and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot various technical issues with support from peers and vendors.
- Conduct user training on a range of technical topics.
- Prioritize support issues and tasks by documenting help desk requests and following up on unresolved matters.
- Support operating systems, virus scanning, malware removal, data recovery, and archiving procedures.
- Install network hardware, components, and cabling.
- Install microwave dishes, access points, IP cameras, and other network devices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network cabling, both copper and fiber.
- Rack and stack networking hardware in compliance with requirements.
- Provide technical support through various communication channels.
- Collaborate effectively with network engineers and project managers.
- Assist network engineers with design, implementation, and problem resolution.
- Cable networking rooms and racks according to data center standards.
- Meet quality, productivity, and turnaround time expectations.
- Install residential and commercial wireless networks independently and as part of a team.
- Configure and troubleshoot small office/home network services, including Wi-Fi, DHCP, NAT, firewalls, and port forwarding.
- Install and configure VoIP endpoints.
Qualifications:
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
- Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong customer service orientation and professionalism in all interactions.
- Proficient in using basic cable installation tools and hand tools.
- Experience with all versions of Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Microsoft operating systems.
- Understanding of various network environments (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, etc.).
- Ability to thrive in a multi-tasking environment.
- Experience working with colleagues at all levels, from management to new hires.
- Good knowledge of networking hardware, including routers, servers, switches, and cabling.
- Experience with fiber optic technologies is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with major manufacturers of networking equipment.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Capability to diagnose basic technical issues and identify root causes.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability for travel to various customer sites.
- Previous experience in a similar role is a plus.
Compensation:
$20-$30/hr based on experience. This is a permanent full-time position.

Work Schedule:
Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Central. As part of the support team, you will be required to be on call at scheduled times, with on-call hours considered overtime if the employee has met the required 40 hours for the workweek.
