About the Role:

We're seeking a highly skilled Land Surveyor to join our team in Gurnee, IL. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for applying your expertise in surveying principles and practices to deliver high-quality results. Your duties will include:

  • Geodetic Measurements and Data Interpretation: Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.
  • Complex Surveys and Project Management: Perform complex surveys and complete projects as assigned, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Research and Analysis: Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title information as needed to support project requirements.
  • Boundary Dispute Resolution: Follow accepted legal principles to compare and verify current measurements and resolve boundary disputes.
  • Parcel Plats and Legal Descriptions: Prepare new parcel plats and legal descriptions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Staking Computations and Exhibits: Perform staking computations and create exhibits to support project requirements.
  • Team Collaboration and Training: Supervise, participate in, and approve the reduction of survey field notes and calculations, and assist in training junior staff members.

Key Skills and Abilities:

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents with excellent communication skills.
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrated aptitude to understand calculations, alignments, and instructions for field work, and knowledge of AutoCAD C3D software functionality to prepare survey plats and exhibits.
  • Survey Equipment and Software: Must maintain a thorough understanding of IMEG survey equipment, survey practices, and survey software programs, including GPS surveying practices.
  • Client and Stakeholder Interaction: Effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, and others to ensure project success.
  • Self-Motivation and Time Management: Self-motivated with good time management skills, and ability to travel as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • Land Surveying Education: Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Land Surveying, or minor in Land Surveying (preferred).
  • Licensure and Experience: Meet state-specific licensure requirements for experience, education, and pass NCEES LS exam, with a minimum of 4 years of PLS experience.
