Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate clinical information to patients and businesses, scheduling tests and consultations, obtaining clinical specimens, assessing patients, performing clinical office procedures, and maintaining adequate clinical supplies.
  • Accurately record patient medical history and vital signs.
  • Administer immunizations and injections as appropriate.
  • Counsel patients on health-related issues.
  • Order and maintain clinical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
  • Coordinate referrals to other medical services.
  • Secure consultations and specialists.
  • Triage phone calls and address patient portal messages.
  • Obtain prior authorization for medications and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist physicians with med/surg procedures.
  • Observe universal precautions.
  • Maintain quality assurance for office lab.
  • Observe proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
  • Coordinate with pharmacies to ensure patients have adequate supplies of medicine.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate required within 90 days of employment or current LPN license required.
  • One year previous experience in a medical office environment preferred.
  • Competent in the use of Glucometer, BP cuff, thermometer, computer, stethoscope, audioscope, business phone, and various oral and injectable medications.
  • Ability to sit, stand, communicate in English, both orally and in writing, and lift over 20 pounds.
