Summary
This position is for an Air Reserve Technician (ART) role within the Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command.

ARTs are integral members of the regular career civil service, enjoying all the benefits associated with Federal employment in the competitive civil service.

Additionally, ARTs must maintain active membership in their assigned AF Reserve unit. Typically, ARTs participate in military training for approximately one weekend each month.

Duties
The primary responsibility of this position is:
To function as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) tasked with testing, diagnosing, repairing, and modifying aircraft hydraulic systems, addressing leaks in external and integrated tanks, and providing training to reservists on the associated tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Receives work orders or verbal instructions regarding issues with aircraft hydraulic systems.
2.

Diagnoses hydraulic systems using various testing methods, including pressure and vacuum checks, to identify the source of leaks.

3. Conducts troubleshooting on hydraulic cells to locate leaks.
4. Implements modifications and prepares components for storage or shipment.
5.

Utilizes a range of standard hand tools, safety indicators, torque wrenches, leak detectors, and pressure gauges, as well as operates ground support equipment.

Develops effective training plans to enhance Reserve training.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment:
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Males must be registered for Selective Service
- Security clearance may be required
- If authorized, PCS will be paid in accordance with JTR and AF Regulations.
- The position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- Random drug testing may be required
- Employee may be required to work outside of normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
- Shift work and emergency overtime may be necessary
- Employee must maintain current certifications
Qualifications
Applicants will be evaluated based on their knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies in the following areas:
1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
2. Proficiency in reading and interpreting various technical documents.
3. Skill in using standard hand and power tools relevant to the trade.
4. Knowledge of the operation, capabilities, and limitations of aircraft hydraulic systems.
5. Ability to conduct comprehensive testing of hydraulic systems and perform repairs or fabrication of hydraulic equipment.
6. Understanding of safety and security protocols as outlined in applicable standards and regulations.
Physical Requirements:
Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs). Moderate lifting (up to 25 lbs). Light lifting (under 15 lbs). The role requires standing, walking, and occasional crawling or kneeling.
Environmental Factors:
Work may be performed indoors and outdoors, with exposure to various weather conditions and noise levels.
