Overview:
The Custodian plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of both internal and external facility environments in accordance with the standards and protocols established by GEODIS Group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming of hallways, staircases, and office areas.
- Regularly empty waste and recycling containers.
- Identify and report necessary repairs, such as leaks or damaged structures.
- Change air conditioning filters as needed.
- Alert management regarding significant repair needs or enhancements to lighting, heating, and ventilation systems.
- Manage pest control measures and apply appropriate pesticides and herbicides.
- Maintain cleanliness in offices, restrooms, and break areas.
- Care for outdoor spaces by mowing lawns and trimming bushes.
- Operate machinery, such as tow motors, for moving equipment when required.
- Inspect and maintain pump houses and fire safety equipment.
- Ensure walkways and sidewalks are clear and safe.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
For food service areas, the custodian is responsible for reporting any food safety concerns to authorized personnel.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED is preferred.
A minimum of three months of relevant experience is required.
Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
Capability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in various formats.
Work Environment:
This position requires the employee to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, and communicate effectively. The role may involve stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Occasionally, the employee may need to lift items weighing up to 60 pounds. The custodian will frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts and may encounter extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
