About the Role

Summit Design and Engineering Services is a leading provider of innovative engineering solutions, seeking a skilled Transportation Construction Inspector II to join our Construction Engineering Inspection team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of highway construction projects in the Fayetteville area and throughout North Carolina.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and Monitor Construction Operations: Assist in the inspection of various roadways and structures construction operations, performing calculations and computations with supervision.
  • Materials Sampling and Testing: Perform materials sampling and testing to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Collect materials weigh tickets and conduct various roadway tests to ensure materials delivered to project meet specifications and are placed in accordance with standard specification.
  • Project Record Keeping: Maintain daily record keeping of project activities and prepare monthly project estimates.
  • Field Measurements and Calculations: Take field measurements of various completed work items and make calculations to determine contract pay quantities.
  • Plan Reading and Interpretation: Read plans and blueprints to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Mathematical Knowledge: Working knowledge of mathematics in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry and the ability to apply formulas.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox and/or OneDrive.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to walk over rough and uneven terrain, stand up to 12 hours a day, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience: Minimum four years of relevant experience for Level II Technicians, with the ability to perform duties without supervision and read resource materials to determine answers to simple inspection requirements.
