Role Overview

We are looking for a talented Property Accountant who will manage general ledger accounting functions, including balance sheet reconciliations and the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for multiple properties. This role will involve collaboration with property managers and regional leadership to ensure precise and timely financial execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze financial data for month-end and year-end closing processes, including the creation of supporting schedules and work papers.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for 6-10 properties, encompassing financial statements and bank reconciliations.
  • Generate journal entries and verify the accuracy and completeness of general ledger activities.
  • Manage cash flow, including cash applications and reconciliations.
  • Work closely with property managers and regional leadership to ensure timely and accurate pre-close activities.
  • Engage proactively with clients regarding property profitability and address inquiries promptly.
  • Support accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new properties to ensure proper setup and produce accurate financial statements.
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as required.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related business field is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in an accounting role is essential.
  • Three or more years of experience in multifamily property management accounting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Yardi Voyager or similar systems is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP is necessary.

Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong emphasis on accuracy.
  • Capability to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to perform advanced mathematical functions and cash management.
  • Proficient in interpreting financial statements.
  • Capacity to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work Schedule

Typically, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

Work Environment

Standard office environment.
