Job Summary
The Substation Engineer will be responsible for designing and applying utility-grade substation systems to transmission and substation systems for the company. This role will involve working under limited supervision to perform electrical engineering work in the substation engineering discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and apply substation systems to transmission and substation systems
- Perform electrical engineering work in the substation engineering discipline
- Provide engineering support to various operations groups throughout the company
- Serve on committees as required and attend industry meetings
- Develop and maintain knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, and NESC standards applicable to substation design
- Participate in the company's Emergency Response Plan through a designated storm assignment
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required
- 3-5 years of total work experience in substation engineering work or related operations experience
- Experience and/or knowledge of substation layout and major equipment
- Ability to interpret layout, one-line, and schematic drawings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to apply good individual judgment, initiative, creativity, and decision-making in handling assignments
- Proficient with IEEE/ANSI Standards and National Electrical Safety Code
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 1 year experience related to substation design
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred or able to have a NY, NJ, and PA Professional Engineers License or be in the process of qualifying for a license
