Job SummaryThe Hospital Food Service Supervisor leads and supervises food and nutrition services activities, ensuring seamless execution of daily operations and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:- Assigns personnel to cover essential tray line, cafeteria, patient service, and sanitation positions with properly trained staff.
- Covers short-staffed areas using established guidelines to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Documents employee absences and performance issues, addressing problems promptly.
- Maintains high standards of performance among Food and Nutrition Services staff, addressing issues as needed.
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of department policies and procedures, recommending corrective actions when necessary.
- Completes pre-service checklists to ensure proper functioning of serving equipment, accurate food temperatures, and adequate station supplies.
- Ensures special orders and special diet items are prepared, presented, portioned correctly, and labeled, approving substitutions as necessary.
- Monitors meal service, ensuring food is served attractively, on time, and returned if unacceptable.
- Cleans and sanitizes tray line and cafeteria stations before breaks and at closing.
This role requires prolonged walking, standing, and sitting, with frequent handling and occasional lifting (1-50 lbs.), carrying, pushing, and pulling within established guidelines.
Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Previous supervisory experience in a food service environment, preferred but not required.
