Behavior Intervention Specialist

Job Summary:
The Chester County School District is seeking a highly skilled Behavior Intervention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, this individual will provide critical support to teachers and students in the classroom, focusing on behavior intervention and teaching strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement behavior plans and intervention strategies for students, working closely with teachers and other school staff.
- Assist teachers in identifying and developing individualized behavior interventions, using evidence-based strategies.
- Collect and analyze data on student behaviors, recommending instructional modifications to promote responsible thinking and decision-making skills.
- Provide support to students with impulsive behaviors, low self-esteem, and impaired social skills, working to develop their skills and self-esteem.
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and other staff to ensure successful transitioning for students, including the creation of Transition Plans.
- Present professional development on behavior intervention, substance abuse, anger management, and other topics, supporting staff in implementing new learning.
- Assist families and school staff in accessing community resources, providing support and informational workshops to parents.
- Conduct research on current behavior interventions related to students served, ensuring that all internal communication is complete and effective.
- Collaborate with administrators and teachers to create classroom activities for Character Education time, keeping teachers and other staff informed of progress, incidents, and concerns.
- Complete required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner, performing other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
Requirements:
- Must possess a High School Diploma/GED or Bachelor's Degree or higher in education.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of various methods of data collection and subsequent analysis and interpretation for data to drive appropriate behavioral interventions.
- Ability to conduct and interpret functional behavioral assessments in the development of effective behavior intervention plans.
- Must be able to maintain frequent, meaningful parental communication and develop proactive partnerships between the student/parent and school district to support academic achievement and pro-social behaviors.
- Act as a positive role model for students and model professional and ethical standards.
- Work in a collegial and collaborative manner with peers, school personnel, and the school community to promote and support the mission and goals of the school division and abide by all school division policies and procedures.
- Ability to develop and present ideas effectively, orally and in written form; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, the School Board, and the general public.
