Job Summary

As a Radiologic Technologist at Northwestern Medicine, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of medical imaging principles and practices, as well as excellent communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate and efficient ordering, charging, and tracking of exams in the hospital information system (HIS) and radiology information system (RIS).
  • Position and immobilize patients on examining tables, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the imaging process.
  • Enter relevant data, such as anatomical areas to be radiographed and proper techniques, to produce high-quality images.
  • Communicate effectively with patients before, during, and after procedures to monitor their safety and comfort.
  • Review images on video display screens to ensure quality and produce radiographs as needed.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to obtain wet readings and provide feedback on image quality.
  • Assist in the reception area, responding to patient inquiries and providing general support.
  • Burn CDs and produce film copies when requested by patients or healthcare teams.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Receive and review orders, prioritizing urgent exams to ensure timely and efficient care.
  • Replenish supplies and stock rooms as needed to maintain a smooth workflow.

Qualifications
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification and IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency) registration.
  • 2-3 years of undergraduate education or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Proven working knowledge of medical imaging practices and procedures.
  • 1 year or less of related work experience, demonstrating familiarity with routines and procedures customary to the position.
  • Physical demands include lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds and pushing/pulling forces up to 50 pounds.
