Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating daily production activities at our facility in Rochelle, IL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a Safe Working Environment: Adhere to safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Drive Quality Objectives: Ensure product meets customer and internal requirements through product and process inspections.
  • Facilitate Training: Provide training to meet quality expectations by ensuring all employees are trained to perform their respective jobs.
  • Lead the Hourly Workforce: Direct hourly workforce using leadership skills to meet production goals and objectives.
  • Review Daily Reports: Review daily operational reports to communicate operational, manufacturing, maintenance issues, and shift events to the management team.
  • Perform Administrative Tasks: Perform payroll and production system computer functions.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement and yield projects.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong team player with the ability to coordinate efforts of many individuals internal and external to the organization.
  • Supervisory Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience managing employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Decision-Making Ability: Sound decision-making ability, computational, and analytical skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Technical Skills: Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push, and pull; walk and stand for extended periods of time.
