Job SummaryThe Cardiac Sonographer performs diagnostic, non-invasive, and invasive cardiac exams on patients using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart. This includes Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing.
Key Responsibilities- Performs diagnostic echocardiography examinations using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart during Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing examinations.
- Demonstrates ability to proficiently perform non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
- Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and interpretation of results.
- Prepares and monitors patients before and during procedures.
- Utilizes the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information and document any critical findings.
- On call hours required.
- Associates degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography, or other related study (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (required).
- Required credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (preferred).
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (preferred).
- Picture archiving communication system (PACS) experience (preferred).
