Accuity is seeking a highly skilled Computer Operations Specialist to oversee the operation of computer systems and peripheral equipment, ensuring optimal performance and uptime standards.

This role requires the ability to work independently during night and weekend hours, with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of computer hardware and software, including MVS mainframe and Zeke/Zena scheduling.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operating system hardware and monitoring performance to ensure compliance with uptime standards
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including MVS mainframe and Zeke/Zena scheduling
  • Monitoring system performance and checking results of processed jobs
  • Contacting proper personnel to assist in software or hardware problem resolution
  • Following the batch processing schedule and documenting the successful/unsuccessful completion of events
  • Working with Tech Support to fix system-related problems
  • Staying current on all changes to both hardware and software
  • Delivering output to the proper locations
  • Handling basic maintenance and cleaning of the equipment
  • Notifying Job Scheduler or Computer Operations Manager of any problems and providing input to improve the operating efficiency of the data center
  • Handling the problem reporting system after hours
  • Acting as building security on weekends
  • Answering telephones
  • Acting as the Help Desk after hours and on weekends
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Performing other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will have an Associate Degree in MIS or Computer Operations, with 0-2 years of experience in Information Systems, including some time or all of this time in Computer Operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential for this role.
