Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for ancillary testing, ensuring compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) licenses, and providing technical expertise to support laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures for ancillary testing
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA licenses and accreditation standards
  • Provide technical expertise to support laboratory operations
  • Collaborate with program managers and clinical staff to identify ancillary testing needs
  • Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance programs
  • Perform validation and statistical analysis of quality control patient and reagent data
  • Identify and resolve issues related to quality control and quality assurance
  • Develop and implement training programs for laboratory staff
  • Provide guidance and support to laboratory staff on laboratory operations and procedures
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related field
  • Completion of a medical technology clinical practice program
  • Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
  • At least 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Knowledge of medical technology concepts, principles, and methodologies
  • Ability to apply new scientific and technological developments to laboratory testing
  • Knowledge of mathematics and statistics as related to quality control and quality assurance
Working Conditions

This position is located in a clinical laboratory setting and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities. The selected candidate will be required to work a regular schedule, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
