Overview

Dogwood Industries LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to lead our finance team. As a key member of our leadership team, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial management strategies to optimize cash flow and minimize borrowing costs
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and provide strategic financial guidance to ownership
  • Collaborate with the Senior Accountant to prepare and present financial analyses to ownership
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements
  • Responsible for the annual budgeting process and providing variance analysis to track performance against budgeted targets
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other accounting functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard Dogwood assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, and ensure compliance with applicable requirements
  • Collaborate with the Senior Accountant and department leaders to develop and monitor departmental budgets and forecasts
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to members of the accounting team, fostering their professional development and growth

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and analysis
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems; experience with ERP systems is a plus
  • Experience with construction or industrial fabrication is a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively
  • US Citizen
