Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist II to join our team at Contra Costa County. As a journey-level classification, this role involves performing a full range of general therapy treatments while developing and learning the skills and knowledge necessary to apply more advanced and/or specialized treatments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluates, plans, and implements advanced or specialized therapy treatments in accordance with medical direction
  • Administers or supervises the administration of physical therapy treatments, including neuromuscular facilitation and reeducation, assistive orthotic and prosthetic device fabrication fitting and training, temporary splinting and gait training, bracing soft and bony tissue mobilization, manual and mechanical traction, hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, thermal therapy, and massage
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to less experienced therapists and may assist in training them on more specialized therapy treatments
  • Instructs patients in pain management, injury prevention, posture correction, and body mechanics, monitors and facilitates patients' progress, and develops or directs development of special equipment
  • Provides and promotes excellent customer service for all internal and external customers, explains medical recommendations with respect to physical therapy to patients and their families, observes patient reaction, keeps records, and prepares required reports
  • Administers diagnostic and prognostic tests, provides consultation and education relative to therapy treatment considerations, collaborates with other care providers to ensure proper patient treatment and follow-up, secures and returns clinic supplies and equipment, and maintains required records and statistics
  • Prepares reports of patient treatment, discharge planning, and evaluation of treatment services, provides training and work direction to aides, assistants, interns, and volunteers, and consults with other therapists as needed
Requirements
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California
  • Two years of full-time experience or its equivalent as a Physical Therapist
  • Must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate issued by the American Heart Association or a CPR certification issued by the American Red Cross
Working Conditions

This is a permanent full-time position with regularly scheduled 40 hours per week, full fringe benefits. The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six months.
