Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Memorial Hermann Health System. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing various laboratory tests and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely results, and maintaining a high level of quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and document test results, quality control, maintenance procedures, and associated corrective actions according to policy and procedure.
  • Manage and perform other aspects of daily lab operations, including collections, sample processing, results reporting and distribution, personnel direction, and clerical duties as required to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Interact with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians, and patients to ensure smooth specimen and order processing, and to report results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Comply with policies, procedures, and initiatives of laboratory services, the hospital, and the system, and understand and communicate standards and conditions set forth by various governmental and accrediting agencies.
  • Perform duties in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service, while promoting safety, cost efficiency, and a commitment to the PI process.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in biological science (equivalency required for foreign education).
  • Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (AMT) certification, or Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International), Certified CLS (ASCP), or Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) CM or ASCP Certification Eligible.
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited MLS program within the last 5 years, or MLT (ASCP) certification and two years of full-time acceptable laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last four years, or CLA (ASCP) Certification and a bachelor's degree in a biological science with four years of full-time acceptable experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last eight years, or five years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last ten years.
