Campus Security Liaison

OVERVIEW

The role involves monitoring and ensuring the safety and protection of students with special needs, staff, and school property. Responsibilities include gathering information to de-escalate situations, addressing behavioral concerns, and providing necessary documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Willingness and ability to work with students with special needs.
  • Physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Successful completion of an agility assessment for security personnel.
  • Completion of a security training program before the end of the probationary period.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess specific security requirements within classrooms and throughout the campus to maintain a secure environment.
  • Evaluate emergency situations to determine the best response to safeguard students, staff, and property.
  • Assist in non-crisis interventions or physical restraint during student de-escalation.
  • Monitor and document student behavior in designated areas.
  • Provide support to students with severe medical conditions or physical limitations in personal care tasks.
  • Assist in the transfer or lifting of students to facilitate their daily activities.
  • Identify and report violations of school policies or state laws to the appropriate authorities.
  • Support student management in the surrounding community as necessary.
  • Assist bus drivers with security and discipline issues on school transportation.
  • Participate in meetings to enhance skills and share information.
  • Serve as a witness in disciplinary hearings or legal proceedings when required.
  • Prepare and submit reports as needed.
  • Availability to work beyond standard hours when necessary.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance is essential.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Reports to Site Administrator.
