Position Overview

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is in search of a Principal DevOps Engineer to enhance and support capabilities for various programs.

The selected candidate will be integral to a DevOps Engineering team, offering technical expertise in Kubernetes, GitLab, DAF CLOUDworks, and other relevant DevOps technologies.

Responsibilities include advising on all facets of containerized deployments, encompassing deployment, configuration, scaling upgrades, and optimization.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing and maintaining highly scalable and available infrastructure and applications within Kubernetes, as well as advocating for microservice design patterns in intricate environments.

Additionally, they will play a crucial role in the development and upkeep of continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical authority on Kubernetes and associated DevOps technologies.
  • Design and support scalable and highly available infrastructure and applications in Kubernetes.
  • Promote microservice design patterns in complex settings.

Basic Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree.
  • Experience in configuring and administering DevOps tools such as Kubernetes and GitLab.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with OCI-compliant container technologies (Docker, Podman, etc.).
  • Proficient in Linux Operating Systems.
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
  • Active CompTIA Security+, CASP, or CISSP certification.
  • Experience with NASIC DAF CLOUDworks implementation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in securing and hardening Kubernetes clusters with monitoring and auditing capabilities.
  • Proficiency in developing automation techniques to enhance deployment speed and service reliability.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and Ruby for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and principles.
  • Experience with project management tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Understanding of Microservice Architectures.
  • Experience with distributed version control systems such as Git.
  • Familiarity with web services and APIs, including testing web-based APIs using tools like Postman.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $97,500 - $146,300. This range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the role's scope and responsibilities, along with the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay, designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company success. Employees in leadership positions may qualify for Long Term Incentives.
