Clinical Nursing Instructor

Reports To: Director of Nursing and Associate Director of Nursing
Classification: Part-Time
FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Position Summary:Faculty members are responsible for delivering quality education services, engaging students, fostering learning, and producing competently trained students. This includes working with the Director of Nursing, Associate Director of Nursing, and other campus faculty and staff to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of assigned courses.
Workload Expectations:- Workload is dependent upon the faculty classification.
- Faculty will start and end on time for assigned courses, clinicals, and lab hours.
- Faculty must obtain prior approval from the DON/ADON if their assignment will require overtime.
- Teaching must be in face-to-face contact with students in any of the following areas:
- Didactic/classroom instruction
- Clinical/offsite or onsite active patient/mannequin care experience
- Lab/Simulation/Active Learning experiences
- Full-Time Faculty are required to:
- Teach a minimum of 30 hours per week.
- Attend meetings.
- Participate in accreditation.
- Serve on committees.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Faculty delivers courses that are part of standard academic programs.
- Faculty Members are responsible for ensuring a quality education for students in their course and programs.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical skills.
- Excellent teaching skill and ability to efficiently manage students' clinical and skills lab activities.
- Computer literacy skills including functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage people and projects.
- Knowledgeable in the course content.
- Effective in directing and evaluating student learning and lab performance.
- A willingness to follow high ethical standards.
- Minimum of an earned Associate's degree with a major in nursing (ASN or equivalent) from an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor's degree with a major in nursing (BSN or equivalent) from an accredited nursing program (Preferred).
- Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license issued by the Florida Department of Health.
- Current and active Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of four (4) years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught.

Physical Demands:The physical demands are those required in a professional office setting and higher education teaching environment, along with activities of a professional nurse: communicating with coworkers, presenting to a classroom of students, demonstrating procedures and techniques, and getting to and from appropriate classes and offices.
Working Environment:Professional office setting: moderate noise levels; controlled indoor climate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
This position is an onsite position.
This position will be based out of:
West Palm Beach (Main Campus)
Fort Lauderdale (A Branch of West Palm Beach)
Any changes must be reviewed by the CAO/Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO). All final approvals must come from the President/CEO.

Requirements:- Prepare course plans and materials.
- Deliver course lectures/facilitate labs and/or clinical rotations.
- Monitor equipment and supply needs.
- Maintain classroom.
- Seek out an approved substitute in case of faculty member's need for absence.
- Enforce HCI policies (attendance, dress code, clinical policies, etc.).
- Participate in orientation, graduation, and pinning ceremonies (full-time faculty required and part-time requested).
- Work on retention plans and program development.
- Attend staff and faculty meetings (full-time faculty required and part-time requested).
- Participate in committees and knowledge sharing forums (full-time faculty required and part-time requested).
- Facilitate student engagement.
- Direct and assess student progress in achieving theory (content: cognitive) and performance (competencies: psychomotor and affective) requirement of the program.
- Monitor student progress and follow-up as needed.
- Identify at-risk students in a timely fashion.
- Meet with students and document on an Early Alert Form.
- Implement an action plan for success.
- Assessing students and providing developmental feedback.
- Work one-on-one with students.
- Be available for one-on-one assistance/tutoring.
- Advise students.
- Provide weekly assessments, follow up, and evaluation of the plan.
- Answer student questions.
- Record grades and submit reports.
- Adhere to departmental grading policies.
- Maintain grade books.
- Grade projects and exams.
- Provide students with mid-term evaluations.
- Provide progress reports/mid-term feedback.
- Submit final grades.
- Monitor progress and attendance.
- Take and report daily attendance and enforce tardy and absence policies.
- Report attendance issues to the DON/ADON.
- Provide weekly feedback reports to the ADON, DON, Chief Academic Officer (CAO)/Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Group Campus President/Chief Operating Officer (COO).
- Maintain any relevant licensures, certifications, and other required maintenance of paperwork for personnel file.
- Maintain a minimum of eight (8) hours of Continuing Education Units (CEU's) annually by participating in professional development and in-services.
- Encourage students to submit course evaluations, review course evaluations when available, and use feedback to improve course delivery.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Participate in accreditation activities.
- Comply with all governmental regulations and standards of accreditation.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
