Position InformationThe Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director and APP Manager in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients at WakeMed. This position may involve both inpatient and outpatient care, depending on the needs of the service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for completing referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post-procedure care, prescribing, and patient care follow-ups. They will work closely with other healthcare providers in a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to maximize patient care.
As a healthcare professional, the NP/PA will function as an educator for PA/NP/DO students from healthcare education programs. They will maintain the scope of practice consistent with the policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board or Board of Nursing and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed.
Requirements- 1 year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant or Nursing is required; Master's degree in Physician Assistant or Nursing is preferred.
- Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is required; Basic Life Support certification is required within 6 months of hire.
The successful candidate will work a rotating schedule, including weekends, per team guidelines. Every third weekend is required, with no call.
