Position Overview

The CNC Horizontal Machining Specialist is responsible for the efficient set-up and operation of CNC horizontal machining centers. This role requires a keen understanding of technical specifications and the ability to execute complex machining tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set-Up and Operation: Initiate and manage new machining projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications and operational guidelines.
  • Technical Proficiency: Interpret and work from detailed drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions to perform standard shop calculations related to machining dimensions, tooling, and operational speeds.
  • Program Adjustments: Modify program settings as needed to optimize tool feeds and speeds for various machining tasks.
  • Tool Management: Adjust tool travel distances and maintain tools by setting and sharpening them as required.
  • Precision Measurement: Utilize a range of precision measuring instruments to uphold strict dimensional tolerances based on technical drawings.
  • Operational Monitoring: Oversee machine operations to ensure consistent quality and performance.
  • Rework and Calibration: Rework and calibrate production components and tooling as necessary, verifying accuracy for each part produced.
  • Tool Replacement: Identify and replace dull tools to maintain operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in setting up and programming Hitachi Seiki Horizontal Machines.
  • Physical capability to lift weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Competence in setting up auxiliary machines, including hand mills and multi-spindle drill presses.
  • Familiarity with various gauging techniques.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong comprehension of written and verbal instructions.
  • Awareness of safety protocols and the ability to adhere to them.
  • Capacity to perform the necessary physical tasks associated with the role.
