Automation Technician

The Automation Technician assists the A&E designers in researching, developing, constructing, installing, documenting, programming, implementing, maintaining, and updating systems related to industrial control, show control, animated figure control, and mechanicals. This role involves collaborating with designers to design and implement special effects for new shows, existing shows, and special projects. The Automation Technician must learn and understand show-related programs and systems to troubleshoot and repair them effectively.

• Maintain professional communication and quality customer service with team members and other departments.
• Assist A&E Designers in developing, constructing, installing, documenting, programming, implementing, maintaining, and updating effects, controls, and special projects, with the goal of gaining a deep understanding of projects and systems to enable independent repair and troubleshooting.
• Test and commission developed systems, providing necessary training and documentation to users.
• Ensure all efforts comply with the National Electric Code and approved Sight & Sound construction practices.

• Basic electronic and electrical skills, including equipment programming knowledge.
• Proficiency with shop and hand power tools.
• Computer skills, including hardware, software, and networks.
• Familiarity with industrial and/or theatrical control systems, including industrial motor drives and human mechanical interface (HMI).
