Unit Overview
The Medical Surgical Unit is comprised of 13 beds, including 4 observation and 9 inpatient. Currently, the unit is undergoing renovations, featuring fresh paint, new flooring, and updated artwork in both the hallways and patient rooms. Enhancements also include a redesigned nurses' station, breakroom, and staff restroom. This unit serves as the primary care area for our largest patient demographic and is a fundamental part of the hospital's operations. We provide telemedicine services across various specialties, including pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound care. Additionally, we are excited to introduce telemedicine palliative care services soon. Our facility offers MRI services six days a week, along with CT scans, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgeries, care management, and medical social work services, all aimed at maintaining high-quality local care.

Scope of Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care in a responsible and accountable manner, adhering to the standards set forth by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and state regulations. The role requires demonstrating proficiency through the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN is expected to uphold professional performance standards as outlined by the ANA, including ethical practice, culturally competent care, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, professional evaluation, resource management, and environmental health. The goal is to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required within five years.
- Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months.
Work Schedule
This position is full-time, with night shifts scheduled from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, and requires variable days of work, including every other weekend.
