Key Responsibilities- Provide assistance to library patrons with research, circulation, and other library-related tasks.
- Check out and check in library materials, including books, journals, and other resources.
- Respond to queries for information and direction, both in-person and via phone.
- Assist users in locating library resources, including online databases and digital collections.
- Take and transfer messages accurately, and make ID cards and badges as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as restocking shelves and cleaning the library.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up and breaking down library equipment.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Must be a current student at Newman University, with a minimum of 12 credit hours.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with library software.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
The Student Library Assistant will work in a fast-paced library environment, with frequent interactions with students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team-oriented setting and provide excellent customer service in a diverse and inclusive environment.
