Role Overview

Our client seeks a talented CAD Designer to join their design and production team. This role is essential for transforming creative concepts into tangible products, facilitating the entire product development cycle leading to mass production. The ideal candidate will possess substantial expertise in product design, manufacturing techniques, tooling, and documentation, primarily utilizing a 3D CAD platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • 3D and 2D Modeling: Develop intricate 3D models, documentation, and 2D drawings based on inputs from various departments, including product engineering, process development, CAM, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
  • Tooling and Product Development: Create final product designs, tooling, fixtures, and comprehensive technical documentation to support manufacturing and quality assurance.
  • Manufacturing Process Enhancement: Assist in the advancement and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Material Expertise: Apply knowledge of material characteristics, including metals, plastics, wood, tool steel, aluminum, and 3D-printed materials, in the design of components and assemblies.
  • Complex Assembly Design: Engineer moving parts and intricate assemblies, taking into account material and process tolerances.
  • Prototyping and CNC Experience: Familiarity with rapid prototyping and CNC manufacturing methods is advantageous.
  • Data Management: Organize and manage digital information while interfacing with data management systems.
  • Quality Assurance: Evaluate physical components against 3D models, generate deviation reports, and collaborate to address issues and enhance processes.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in CAD design, including 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Experience in an in-house manufacturing setting with a solid grasp of tooling and manufacturing processes, including quality control.
  • Familiarity with CNC machining and programming, with an understanding of toolpath creation and machine operations.
  • Experience in smaller machine-shop environments, emphasizing precision and operating under tight margins.
  • Relevant industry experience in aerospace, medical devices, or related fields.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience, and training;
