Carpenter - Plant Operations & Maintenance

The Carpenter position is a key member of our facilities maintenance team, responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures throughout our hospital buildings.
Key Responsibilities- Construct and repair wooden structures, including furniture, equipment, partitions, and other building components, using hand tools and power tools.
- Calculate and requisition materials, including lumber, hardware, and supplies, as needed.
- Select and use appropriate tools and supplies, such as nails, screws, and glue, to repair and maintain wooden structures.
- Remove and replace broken or damaged hardware, and repair partitions, doors, windows, and floors, using power tools and hand tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine the procedure for constructing cabinets, furniture, and other wooden articles.
- Measure and mark wooden stock using rules, tape measures, calipers, and marking pencils to guide cutting operations.
- Build and install a variety of wood constructed items, including countertops, cabinets, shelving, moldings, and partitions, for the Health System.
- Perform in-house remodeling projects, including metal stud construction, drywall installation, suspended ceilings, flooring applications, and demolition of existing structures, as needed.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring they are in safe operating condition.
- Transport materials and supplies to job sites, and request equipment and supplies as needed to maintain inventory and ensure availability of required items.
- Complete and log time in the computerized work order system, and perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 5 years of experience in a position related to carpentry or woodworking.
- Valid driver's license.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to read and comprehend complicated blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications, codes, and handbooks.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks as required.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to function as a team member in a demanding service environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers at all levels of the organization.
